Sonem Privacy Policy

Sonem is a privacy-first expense and budget tracker built and operated by Sonem App LLC, a California limited liability company ("we," "us"). This policy explains what data Sonem handles and — more importantly — what it doesn't.

The short version: your financial data never leaves your device. We cannot see it, we do not collect it, and we could not sell it even if we wanted to — because we never have it. Sonem requires no account, no sign-up, no email address, and no bank connection.

What Sonem stores on your device

The following information is stored only on your device, in the app's local storage:

Transactions you log (amounts, categories, dates, notes)
Budgets and savings goals you create
Your preferences (currency, nickname, first day of week)

None of this is transmitted to us or to any third party. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.

What we collect

Nothing. Sonem does not collect, transmit, receive, or store any personal information or financial information on any server. Specifically, Sonem has:

No account system. There is nothing to sign up for.
No bank linking. Sonem never connects to your bank, card, or any financial institution.
No analytics. We do not track how you use the app.
No advertising. The current version of Sonem contains no ads and no ad networks.
No cloud backup. Your data is not uploaded anywhere.
No third-party data sharing. There is no data to share.

Deleting your data

You can erase everything Sonem stores at any time using Settings → Delete All Data inside the app. This is immediate and irreversible. Uninstalling the app also removes all data.

Because your data exists only on your device, we cannot access, recover, or delete it for you — you are in complete control.

Children

Sonem does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is rated for all ages and contains no ads, no in-app communications, and no data collection of any kind.

Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws)

Privacy laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) give you rights over personal data that companies hold about you — rights to access it, correct it, delete it, and object to its sale.

Sonem App LLC holds no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, delete, or sell. Your rights are satisfied by design: all of your data is on your device, under your direct control.

If you believe we hold any personal data about you (for example, an email you sent to our support address), you may contact us at the address below and we will address your request.

Permissions

Sonem requests no device permissions. It does not access your contacts, location, camera, photos, microphone, notifications, or any other device feature.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Sonem adds features that change how data is handled (for example, optional encrypted backup or advertising), we will update this policy before that version is released, and the in-app Privacy Center will reflect the change. Any future feature that moves data off your device will be strictly optional and end-to-end encrypted so that it remains unreadable to us and to anyone else.
